The Jivecats – ‘The Easiest Dance to Learn’ EP
WOW!!! Lovers of great new music pay attention: make sure you check out this latest EP release by The Jivecats! The 5-piece group from Grantham has created a fantastically catchy and accessible set of infectious songs to capture your attention. With their own unique brand of quirky up-beat Ska, there is a dynamic sound here that you could be forgiven as being described rather like ‘Madness meets The Housemartins’ (with the additional raucous stamp of indie-rock). Certainly, there is a strong similarity in the style of the lead vocals with those of Paul Heaton (the ex-Housemartins frontman). However, this is by no means a criticism. On the contrary! The vocals compliment the bouncy energetic sounds of an impressive bombastic rhythm section. As a listener, the music grabs you quickly with its groovy hook-lines and melodies (such as in songs like ‘My Favourite Song’ and ‘Forget the Times’). You can’t help but want to tap your feet and join in with the hypnotic choruses and refrains. This is a great achievement from a band with a truly great potential. A thoroughly enjoyable listen! Music to make you smile! Recommended.
