White Light Parade + Tetra Valium Christopher's, Lincoln 30 September 2006
Review by Pete
There was a near capacity crowd at Christophers last Saturday night. Good news for promoters Simply Chris and Iain from RAW who have quickly proved themselves capable of serving up a top night of live music for Lincoln's fans. As is their masterplan there were an onslaught of seven bands lined up to play us through from 8pm till the early hours - all for a fiver on the door or three quid in advance. Wahey!
Local lads Tetra Valium are mining the same indie goldmine and showed even more mouthy dissatisfaction - such as when demanding the "fuckin' monitor was fuckin' sorted and fuckin' quick" - which it was and a spikey, cracking set of songs kept the night going full on in the right direction.
So many bands I didn't get to stay to hear more than a few and so had to miss some really great music.
Some pics of the two mentioned bands are online at www.shine.clara.co.uk/gigs

For me
this event saw a welcome return of White Light Parade from Leeds who
wowed us through the rain at the loveliness that was the Lincoln Water
Festival gig in the summer. Their blistering set was again ultra tight
and shone with quality material throughout. These guys (and girl
drummer) are full of authentic northern male attitude and hungry
ambition. They sound - and look - way too good to be playing small
venues like this for very much longer. They've got that certain
'something' - and if moody guitar bands don't suddenly fall from
national favour to be replaced by electro pop they could prove worthy
contenders.
