26.10.08 "It was a succesful night for Lincoln bands at the Scunthorpe Rock Open. The truly excellent The Dark Mantra finished 2nd followed by the flawless Sevenday Weekend who came 3rd. Scunthorpe band The Revolvers won the competition who took home the princely sum of £600 and a full day in the recording studio. Plus a rather fetching silver cup to put on the mantle piece. It was a very good quality contest run with integrity and honesty, and you can see why it is now in it's 27th year. The organisors and judges and did a great job, and without doubt it was a very enjoyable evening for everyone who attended." (Read an independant review of the final here)

26.10.08 We've been told of a further event happening on Halloween. This one at The Turk's Head. "The Lincolnshire bombers roller girls, Lincoln’s very own roller derby team, are hosting ‘Hallowheels’! It starts at 8ish and we’re taking donations on the door. We’ve got rockabilly bands ‘Aces & Eights’ from Leeds, ‘The Bad Apples’ from Grimsby, & ‘The Surf Sluts’ from York. We’ve also got some burlesque acts, and Dj ‘Howlin Pete’ with some spooky tunes! There will be loads of games, raffle, fancy dress prizes, cheap cocktails and just lots of fun. Zombie is the theme so we expect some undead fancy dress."
