31.07.08 Andy Derrick, who is the MU Regional Officer for the Midlands, is organising a regular set of networking meetings for anyone involved in the music business. There are a number coming up at the Drill Hall in Lincoln. They are free and refreshments will be provided. For more information see the flyer (which contains contact details).

31.07.08 The latest release from Lincoln indie band The Idlers. Two brand new tracks, recorded at 2Fly Studios, Sheffield - 'Headlights' and 'These Two Hands'.

28.07.08 'Tim Hancock is starting guitar tuition in the Newark and Linconshire area.
He can cater for many styles and levels, whether you want to take up the guitar as a beginner or get some extra help.
He has over 13 years of playing under his belt and has just achieved a BA Hons in Music and Professional Practise.
Prices start from £15 per hour and lessons will be constructed around what you want to learn and achieve.

28.07.08 On Saturday 9th August, Tillbridge House (Tillbridge Lane, Sturton By Stow) plays host to the second Minifest. Eight bands have been lined up to play including IMyBike, Dirty As Muck, Safehouse Massacre and This Day Remains. All proceeds go to Cancer Research. 23.07.08 After five years iodo are calling it a day. The band members will soon be spread over three countries and so it will not be practical to continue. There will be two farewell gigs as the iodo improvisation collective and possibly one final EP. For full details see iodo's farewell note (or visit their site myspace.com/iodotheband). 23.07.08 Spatch..? have been working on developing their sound and have a new track up on their myspace (myspace.com/spatch27). The track called "Holiday Gallbladder" is a pure slice of controlled mayhem. The guys are hoping to be out playng live again soon, so keep an eye on their myspace for gig details.

22.07.08 The Living Daylights are taking some time out after their gigs in Scotland to record their debut album. They are going to Exeter to record with Peter Miles, who lists Vallenbrossa, Sonic Boom Six, Howards Alias, The Chonicles Of Adam West and King Blues and others in his list of bands he's recorded. The guys were also recommended by Failsafe to play at Miles' private festival ("Petestock") before they start ther recording.

22.07.08 "A video of Viv Murrell's song 'Motion Sensors' is now on Youtube. Viv
was asked by Pete to walk from one end of his street to the other but
not touching the ground but by walking on people's walls. Amazingly
she only fell off only once and only picked up two ASBOs. The video can be viewed on Pete's at YouTube or on the LincolnBands YouTube

22.07.08 The last show at the Horse and Groom is this thursday. The Frontline and Tiger Warsaw will be playing. There will be a few surprises plus also this.......

22.07.08 The Grimsby Arts
Festivals Battle of the Bands Competition heats are running from the 11th to the 14th of August
with the final on Saturday 16th of August at the Matrix Club in Grimsby
- under 18's are welcome to enter. All bands need to play a 20 to 30
minute set of original material, prizes are £100 cash and studio time.

20.07.08 NoJunkNoSoul have decided to call it a day. Disenchanted with their experiences in London the guys will play one final gig this coming Saturday (26th July) at the Jolly Brewer. We'd like to wish the guys the best of luck in future projects.

20.07.08 The ever prolific Steve Cowan, currently with FearOfHatred and The Naira Project has had one of his more ambient solo tracks used as the backing track to a short film about green issues, recently produced in the States. The video can be viewed on the Green Energy TV website

20.07.08 This coming Thursday (24th July) is the final show at the Horse & Groom before Sarge & co upsticks and move to the Turks Head. Tiger Warsaw are to headline with support from The Frontline. Its free entry and kicks off around 8.00pm. There'll be some surprises as it's the last night - cheap drinks too. So get along, what else you going to do on a Thursday?

19.07.08 Nightvision hit the road on Wednesday 23rd July on a hectic four day Northern Mini tour taking in headline slots at Rockers - Glasgow, Grand Central - Manchester, Hark to Towler - Greater Manchester and The Snooty Fox - Wakefield.
Nigyhtvision have now added the Fidlers Elbow - Cambden on 20th Sept to the growing gig list and looking forward to their first appearance in London. They are also playing at a Charity gig at the Barnestone Country Club near Bingham on 27th Sept.
The band will be off the road for a few weeks (apart from the Halloween Party gig on 31st October at The Travellers Rest) starting on 13th October when they start recording their debut album at Axis Studios - Doncaster with a planned release early in the new year. This is an exciting project for the band and plans for nationwide distribution and online purchase are being formulated to help spread the Nightvision sound around the country. 19.07.08 Sharp Street Studio in Hull are currently offering extremely good rates on recording. For example a four hour live recording session, will only set you back £70. Ideal for getting some quality recordings up on myspace. The studio offers good rates (and are easy to understand!) As an added bonus, each band that records at Sharp Street Studio will be added to a compilation CD which is sent to promoters, labels and management companies. 17.07.08 Dancing Lotus will be headlining the Uni stage on Sat at this years Waterfront Festival. They'll be playing from 9-10pm followed by the fireworks display, will be a great atmosphere. Dancing Lotus also confirmed a while back that, thankfully, they will be staying in Lincoln for a while longer (there was talk of them going their separate ways at the end of Uni) so get along on Saturday and give them some support. 15.07.08 Singer Songwriter, Col Lewis, is to play a showcase for BRM Records on 26th July at The Churchill Theatre in Kent. Matchbox Records are also going to 'Julie Girl' which Col is going to re-record for the release. You can catch Col locally in the meantime at The George & Dragon (19th) The Poacher (Aug 16th) plus a number of other local venues. He will also be appearing in session on The Mix on Aug 8th. 15.07.08 The Ting Tings are to play at the Engine Shed on September 19th. Tickets are available now - online at engineshed.ticketline. The list of bands coming to the Engine Shed is growing almost daily it seems with Seth Lakeman due to play 24th October, and Feeder set to play on 26th. November sees Elliot Minor grace the stage alongside bands previously listed.

10.07.08 Lincoln's first digital music festival - Webstock - is set to run at the Jolly Brewer from 25 -27 July. A number of bands have been lined up including The Jubilees and NoJunkNoSoul. There'll be around twenty bands playing in all. Its being organised by the same people who brought you BrewerFest two years ago. Entry to the gig is free, but if you can't make it, watch it online. 10.07.08 This years Xfest in Skegness hosts a number of bands that will be playing at the Whisky A Go Go on the sea front. Bands lined up to play include The Idlers, Blacklight and Kalenko plus more.
