29.06.08 Metal outfit Seven Sins have their first gig lined up. They will be playing The Shed in Leicester on August 31. The guys are going to be singing their first management contract at The Shed, so they'll be under full management. Planning ahead SS are booking a tour bus off Four Seasons Travel as they're going to be playing at the Glastonbudget festival at the end of next May

24.06.08 Dan Ellin has been replaced in The Jason North Blues Band by Jason's cousin on vocals and guitar. Jason has recently been to Chicago and played at Buddy Guy's Blues Club on South Wabash, backed by Willie Dixon's son!! More info at myspace.com/jasonnorthbluesband

24.06.08 The Wildlife is holding jam nights on a Tuesday night, starting at 8pm, and runs till about 11:15 ish. It's in the private function suite, with a stage as well, with PA, and a guy who does the sound on a voluntary basis. Most people bring their own instruments but there is a pub bass and guitar if needs be, with amps and bass cab (I believe). Lisa, the organiser, doesn't work for the Wildlife, but she is a singer in a band and has a lot of jam night experience at The Sun until it folded.

23.06.08 45 Revolutions is a new book detailing Punk, Mod, New Wave NWOBHM and Indie singles released between 1976 and 1979. The books contains entries of more than 3000 singles including listings for most releases made on seminal Lincoln label Dead Good Records, including The Cigarettes, XS Energy, Driver and Empty Vessels. 24.06.08 BBC Friday Night Mix, has selected Dancing Lotus and Blacklight as the two Lincolnshire bands that will go on to the final decision by a national panel of judges, to play at Leeds and Reading festival, so there could have two Lincolnshire bands on the BBC introducing stage this year!
Also, Dancing Lotus' monthly night, The Pillow Sessions wil be launching again in Sept, and they're looking for bands to perform acoustic sets, all genres welcome to apply. Successful night, with a big audience turn out 200+. Email. dancinglotus@live.co.uk for more details

24.06.08 Eastroad (myspace.com/eastroad) will be flying the flag for Lincolnshire at this years Glastonbury. The guys are playing on The Nelson Mandela stage in the Greenfields on Sunday 29 June. Following that they have two shows organised by Alan McGee in London on 16th and 25th July.

23.06.08 "Chris (RaW) & Alan (BuzzTV) are holding a SimplyBuzzManagement Launch Party this Friday 27th at Mezz Bar, Pavilions Student Village. PR, Press & Industry have been invited. Also, If you know Chris / Alan / or any of the band or members (Hyper Snyper, Little Imp, The Jubilees) and wanna come, get in touch with them for this special invite only night. All 3 bands are performing alongside DJ Sets from Owsley Sunshine (DJ Stugs), Kadence/Scrap producer DJ Sam Reeves plus a few more party people to spin some tunes. 23.06.08 Kasabian are to play The Engine Shed as a warm up to their only festival appearance at Creamfields. The gig is already sold out. The Engine Shed will be holding their first 14+ gig on November 18th when Elliot Minor headline at the venue.

23.06.08 Aurora promotions are hoping to repeat the success of their midsummer festival last week (300 people through the doors) with a mini festival this coming Saturday (28th) The Night starts at 5.30 and bands listed to play are: August Underground, Dirty As Muck, Joy Riding Range, Try My Shoes, Macho Nachos, When The Button Switches and Delayed Finality

23.06.08 The line up for the Midsummer Magic series of concerts at the Lincoln castle seem to have been finalised. This Saturday (28th) sees Knock Out Kaine, Djune and Snakebite confirmed to play. Other bands lined up (but we're not sure they've confirmed) are Never Sed and South Park Roundabout. Tickets can be bought on line for £12.50 plus £1.50 at www.midsummermagic.co.uk. Sugarbabes play on Sunday 29th and McFly August 23rd.

20.06.08 Monster weekend. This weekend is one of those that comes along every so often in Lincoln. If you're wanting a gig to go to you'll all be spoilt for choice. Tonight (Friday 20th) see's Disarm bring their raucous sound to the Biv. These guys are getting quite a bit iof national attention so well worth checking out. And tomorrow! Five different gigs with around 25 bands playing. The Biv has Mancunian Life Among People headlining with support from The Durango Riot and Pennyless Ben with two other local bands. The George & Dragon is a Raw presentation of four bands - out of towners and locals and free entry. The Jolly Brewer has a night of blues, Aurora is presenting an all dayer at the Trav's with a shed load of bands including Final Epitaph, PlaguesFire and Dead Sentinel. And finally for a quieter night, another Raw presentation at the Lincolnshire Poacher. Four acoustic acts including Viv Murrell. And again this one is free entry.

18.06.08 William of IWACS and Tim from The Petty Thief are forming a new band, 'Brontide'. Also in the line up is Nathan of Brighton band 'Pictures'.

18.06.08 The Bamboo Beat Band's reunion gig at the Drill Hall on 26th July is turning into a veritable "who's who" of the early Lincoln music scene. The line up so far confirmed is Bunt Butler - Bass guitar & vocals, Liz Lucas - Piano & vocals, Lee Baker, Eg Lucas, Chris Wormald - Guitars, Vic Scott, Ritchie Webster - Drums and Rick Woolgar - Tenor sax, with possibly more to be added. Support comes from Maggie and the Blue Magnetos plus Aidan Marshall.

17.06.08 The Petty Thief now has a CD out! It took him long enough but the the little 3', handmade, beauties include a badge and the tracks 'Fire Exits', 'Big Wheel', 'Saving Rushmoore' and 'twentyone'. Purchase them at all shows for £3!' 17.06.08 Year 1 college students on the BTEC National Diploma in Music Practice course I performing their first PUBLIC gig this Thursday!
There will be five bands (including Dirty As Muck) that all started or have been set-up on the course itself from the beginning of September 2007. This is a free gig with free parking on site.

15.06.08 Nightvision, last night (15th June) played the grand reopening gig at the refurbished OLD NICK's TAVERN - Horncastle following six months of hard work by mine hosts Ross and Sally which has resulted in this great live music venue being altered to make it more accessable and enjoyable for bands and supporters alike. Nightvision are now pushing on and currently working to add to their gig list for the second half of the year. 14.06.08 Chris Martin is merging his RaW Nights Promotions with www.the-buzz.tv . "Alan Woodhead (Buzz) & I have decided to take the plunge and set up Simply Buzz Management, with Artist & Band Development Strategies. We’re taking it one step at a time and currently concentrating on 3 acts.
Hyper(+)Snyper Rock Electro Dance Rap kinda mash up, very exciting all Lincoln lads 4 piece fusion band. Little Imp Female guitarist and full range vocalist, former drummer with the 22-20’s, currently in jamhouse with keys, drums, bass, and lead axe. Ready soon. The Jubilees Sleaford boys, this band are 4 years in the making, Road to V semi finalists 2007, beating oh so many band entrants to get there.

14.06.08 There'll be a BBC Introducing Stage at this year's Reading and Leeds festivals - and The Mix has been asked, along with the other BBC Introducing shows, to suggest 2 bands to go forward to play on both stages!
So what we need are suggestions from you!
It's not a competition, before you ask - and The Mix team will decide who they put forward - but your thoughts on bands and the best tracks they've done are very welcome!
(We're told they need to be LOUD... keep this in mind please!)

14.06.08 Kerrang rated (4/5) Life Among People who are playing at the Biv (21st June) will have goodies to give away at their Lincoln gig. Big Cheese magazine have given them 15 goodie bags to give away free to the first 15 through the door. They are also sponsored by jagermeister and they'll have a few goodies to give out too. All that plus some incendary tunes. The Truckfighters have pulled out of the tour and have been replaced by labelmates 'The Durango Riot' also from Sweden.

14.06.08 Last minute gig announcement from One Big Wellington Boot. This coming Sunday (15th June) Awesome Color (from the USA) will be playing at The Horse & Groom. Support bands start at 9.00pm and entry is free.

08.06.08 Webstock is a festival with a difference being organised over three days (23 - 25 July) at the Jolly Brewer. The event will be broadcast on the net. The organisers are currently looking for bands to play. 07.06.08 Pete's review of the Lloyd Cole gig at the Drill Hall last Wednesday (4th June) appears to have been well recieved by the man himself as a copy has appeared in Cole's blog on his website. It's always good to see reviews from the site being used by bands that have been reviewed, but this is particularly pleasing. Nice one Pete!

05.06.08 Local bands - your music is wanted. Siren FM (search on facebook) wants air worthy tracks from local bands. Send in tracks/CDs with brief bio to Siren or Alive@5, mark for the attention of Sharon Harriman and Sharon will do her best to get some Lincoln music out there.

05.06.08 The Drill Hall have a number of musical events in their new season, starting this Saturday (7th June) Mostly Autumn (who have been compared to Fairport Convention and Fleetwood Mac amongst others). June 12th sees the return of the Annual Student bands night organised by Dave Mallett (line up to be confirmed). Punk poet Attila The Stockbroker pays another visit to Lincoln on June 18th. In July the YoungPlugged event for 16-19 year old musicians takes place on Monday 14th and on 26th a blues night. Featuring Aidan Marshall, The Eddie Tatton Band and the long awaited return of one of Lincoln's finest blues bands, The Bamboo Beat Band, which will be featuring the formidable talents of Kev 'Bunt' Butler, Rick Woolgar, Eddie Tatton and special guest appearance from Egley Lucas. 04.06.08 You've got to hand it to Molly and Hannah, organisers of the Young Plugged events that run at the Drill Hall. Their entreprenurial skills are very focuessed for two so young. They have come up with the idea of having a bring and buy sale to raise money for Young Plugged. And they'd be very pleased if people would support it. For full details see the flyer. The next Young Plugged is an end of term special on 14th July.

03.06.08 News from The Idlers "It is was great pleasure that we can now reveal the details of our show at the Bivouac on Friday June 13th.
Kicking off at 8pm, with a door price of £5, the show is being opened by our very close friends 'Sportsday'.
Now based in London, the group features ex Lincoln man Dan Middler, and it is his first return to Lincoln, which is very exciting.
Also on the bill are some other friends of ours, and a band who are back better than ever after a long break, The Jubilees.
Another strong local band.
Finally ourselves, and 'Kid Cosmic' all the way from St.Albans complete the lineup.
The show is the 4th stop on our tour, which kicks off this Thursday at The Hope and Anchor in London.

03.06.08 We're still experiencing problems with the forum. Apparently there was a major fault with all of Proboards servers. They've now got most back on line but Server 33 (the server the LincolnBands forum uses) is still casuing problems. They are trying to recover data and hopefully the forum should be back on line soon. You can keep up to date with whats going on here

01.06.08 Line up now confirmed for the month with a bit of a continental theme. RaW will be at two venues for the full band gigs, The Anchor (18+) and The George & Dragon (16+), both on High St. format of two Lincoln bands and two out of town bands.
Highlights include new Lincoln/Anglo Italian band Rovente, Fri 6th G&D, Youngsters Cruise Control Sat 7th G&D. Rock n Ravers LiveRiot with Rollers Recruit back on the bill together (after their London Water Rats gig) Sat 14th Anchor. Another new Lincoln/Anglo South African band Internus Sat 21st G&D and another RaW Debut/New Lincolnshire band, fresh from the Costa’s, The Ram Raid Sat 28th Anchor.
The Lincolnshire Poacher Acoustic Sessions brings two old friends back together with former Park Bench Theory front man Sam singing with guitarist Dean on Sat 21st. RaW Nights for full listings & artwork. Free entry as usual for all RaW Shows and please bring ID for beverage services
