Kate Nash

30.11.07 Kate Nash, who's album, 'Made Of Bricks' hit the top of the album charts back in August, will be playing The Engine Shed in March (Sat 8th) as part of her nationwide tour. Tickets went on sale today and are £15 (in adv.) and can be purchased at www.engineshed.co.uk, 08714244555 and HMV Lincoln (from 3rd Dec). Over 18's only


Access To Music

30.11.07 Access To Music are holding a showcase gig at The Duke Of Wellington (11th Dec). Five ATM bands plus DJs. The gig is FREE and starts at 5.30 (16+). Bands playing are Macho Nachos, Crotch Capers, Try Ivy, The Versatiles and The Rafters.

Next Wednesday (5th Dec) is Access To Music's open night, where people interested in taking music courses, can grab a prospectus and chat with the tutors.


The Mix

29.11.07 The Mix are planning an Xmas party on the 21st December. The plan is to have some of the bands we've had in during the year back and for them to do Christmas covers!

Current bands confirmed include… LiveRiot, Viv Murrell, Joe Mac, Ry Byron, Dead Sentinel, The/Idlers and Abi Moore. More still to confirm. It's all on-air, live, 7-9PM, 94.9FM BBC Radio Lincolnshire, and online at bbc.co.uk/lincolnshire, 21st Dec.


The Idlers

29.11.07 Chris Pearson and a colleague are presenting a gig at The Trust Suite (LCFC) on 9th December. The Idlers are to headline with other bands to be announced. The gig is in association with Lincolnshire Co-operative and Lincoln City FC and all proceeds will be going to the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance. The night, which costs just £5.00, runs from 7pm til 11pm, and there is also a raffle to end all raffles, with prizes ranging from a 3 piece suite, to a 32" LCD TV, to a hot air balloon ride! Tickets for the event are available from the Corn Exchange and the Moorland Centre, Lincoln, and raffle tickets, at just a pound each, from most Co-op branches.


Kallous

29.11.07 See New Year in with a bang at The Duke of Wellington. Evil Scarecrow return to Lincoln, to shout in the New Year. Support comes from Kallous, Wayward and Arcanum. It's £5.00 on the door, which open at 7.00pm with the first band on at 7.30.

 

 

 

 


Clara Maass

29.11.07 Gaz Jenkins has left Clara Maass and is looking for another band, preferably with grunge/funk influences (see wanted ads). We haven't heard who is to be Gaz's replacement yet


The Engine Shed

29.11.07 The Engine Shed is starting 2008 of in style. February 4th sees the NME awards tour stopping off for the first time in Lincoln and later in the month (23rd) Reverend and The Makers will be gracing the stage. Tickets for both events are available at engineshed.ticketline.co.uk


Sevenday Weekend

28.11.07 Sevenday Weekend who recently announced a string of dates into the new year have added more. Taking in Doncaster and Nottingham as well as a (becoming rare) hometown gig (Rock Haven 4th April). More dates to be announced soon. Keep up to date at myspace.com/sevendayweekendlincoln


THe Horse & Groom

28.11.07 As mentioned a few days ago, Saturday 15th December is proving to be something of a highlight on the gig calender. Alongside those gigs previously mentioned, we're hearing (pretty strong) rumours that there will be an all-dayer on that day at The Horse & Groom. Lavotchkin are to headline with support from a host of local and not so local bands.


A Fallen Hero

26.11.07 A Fallen Hero have finalised their line-up floowing George Nolan's departure to London and the drafting in a replacement vocalist. The line up now consists of Duff - guitar, CBH - guitar, Luke - vocals, Gaz - bass and Budge - drums. The guys have their debut live gig at The Biv (14th Dec), followed by a gig with Tripswitch and more to be confirmed. They are currently working on their debut EP (which they're in the studio to record in the New year) followed by an album around April. Visit www.myspace.com/afallenheromusic


So Luxe

25.11.07 "GoodDancer Promotions" is a band and music promotion company, which is run by Tim Dixon. Tim is putting on a night on December 20th at So:Luxe, on the Baryford. Ejectorseat from Derby, are headlining with support from Sires Of Nothing and Ineedtodiscover. Entry will be £3.00

 


Lad

25.11.07 LAD have a new EP available. The EP, which was recorded at Playing Aloud in Lincoln is available as a free download from their myspace: myspace.com/ladmusic

 


White On White

24.11.07 White On White have announced a string of dates taking them through into the New Year. Gigs in Lincoln (Trav's 22/12) are followed by gigs in Norwich (4th Jan), a couple in Grantham, followed by Retford, Horncastle and more in Lincoln. 24.11.07 Those of you not out at gigs tonite might want to tune in to The Beat on 94.9FM. Vincent Ramsey will be joining reps from Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire to discuss the local music scenes (and hopefully play some local music)


Now We Are

24.11.07 Look out for a treat early next year. New local promoters Now We Are:, will be presenting a couple of nights at The Drill Hall. For up to date info check out myspace.com/nowwearelincoln. In the meantime prepare yourselves for appearances from King Creosote (2nd Feb) and The Ripps + Last Gang (16th Feb). Entry will be £6.00 and for ages 14+


Oh what a night

24.11.07 Saturday 15th December is looking to be the sort of night Lincoln needs. FOUR gigs going on in town with bands that cover virtually every genre conceivable. One Big Wellington Boot are hosting Jeffrey Lewis, plus supports from local bands (tickets for this are limited so get in early). The Up To Collective have a mini festival at Croft Street Community Centre, with Tarantism supported by an eclectic seletion of bands. And new kid on the block Cathedral City Promotions have recent signing to Deck Cheese, All Idols Fall plus five more bands at The Duke. And who said live music in Lincoln was dying on its feet?


Aurora Stripe

22.11 .07 Aurora Stripe are in session this coming Friday (23/11) on Radio Lincs' The Mix. The session will be an acoustic premier of new material that they will be playing during their forthcoming tour in January. See their myspace for details myspace.com/aurorastripe

 


Recruit

18.11.07 Recruit have released their debut EP, recorded at Chapel Studios. The guys are giving away the first 150 FREE, so try and get yourselves one. One way to get yourself a copy will be to go along to the Mezz Bar this coming Saturday (24th) where Recruit will be playing. The night is free, you might get a free EP, what more could you want? Escape From This

19.11.07 New band Escape From This which features ex-members of A Fighting Chance are currently in the studio recording their debut EP, which is due for release early next year. Vote for The Enemy at The Engine Shed

18.11.07 Starter have been asked by friends at the Engine Shed, to help "Bring 'The Enemy' To Lincoln!" One of the UK's top bands this year could be coming to The Engine Shed on the 13th December and playing a "Free Gig" if Lincoln puts out enough votes.
There's another 10 Universities currently competing for this gig, so you have to get your votes in! All you have to do is go to the Myspace page setup for the campaign, add yourself as a friend, and send a text message to the number on the flyer.

Dancing Lotus

17.11.07 Uber chilled Dancing Lotus have a number of gigs in Lincoln on the cards. Nov 19th finds then performing for the SU Society at The Engine Shed, the following night at Kind. Sat 24th sees them at The Mezz and in December they're heading off to Leeds to play the Prohibition Acoustic Festival. All this and at the same time recording some acoustic tracks for an EP release in January and full length debut in April. Details at myspace.com/jackshaw


Bivouac

16.011.07 After all the rumours and worries, Steve Hawkins has announced a list of gigs to cover the next few weeks. Re-commencing on Nov 23rd upcoming gigs at the Biv inlcude RSJ, Starter, The Idlers, The Rays, TV Kicks, The Old Romantic Killers (Harry Johns' new band), plus if rumours are to believed the debut gig of A Fallen Hero (ex MCD/Rides The Bus). Drill Hall

15.11.07 This coming Monday see the YoungPlugged Festival at Lincoln Drill Hall. The event, which is being organised by two teens promises an array of young artists will be playing, all for a £2.00. More details were in the Lincolnshire Echo

 

 


Joe Mac

15.11.07 Joe Mac, has announced a string of dates around town and further afield. Starting this Saturday (supporting NoJunkNoSoul at The Horse & Groom, Joe then plays The Drill Hall (19th), Kind (20th), The Mezz Bar (24th), Bishop Grot (30th) and then more gigs in December, including the Prohibition Acoustic Festival in Leeds (9/12). Joe is also working on a new album for release in the New Year which will include tracks with a full band. Full details at myspace.com/joemacallister


Kensal Rise

LiveRiot

15.11.07 LiveRiot, who have recently been playing further afield, played a local gig at The Stags Head last Friday. By 9 o,clock the place was rammed (one in, one out) and the guys would like to say a big thanks to all that came , plus recognition to the management of the venue, who had a lot of stress to manage that night.

 


Starter

14.11.07 Big news for Starter! The Lincoln band are set to release their first Single into the UK Charts this December, in the hope of breaking into the Charts and pushing their music beyond the local scene. Under their own initiative and hard work, the band have collaborated with Birmingham based Eden Records whose artists have achieved numerous TOP 40 hits this year.
Starter are set to release their Single “Falling From These Eyes” on Monday 10th December 2007, through all the major and independant download sites including iTunes, HMV & Napster.

nojunknosoul

13.11.07 'Moved to London' Lincoln Band Nojunknosoul make a welcome return home performing new and old material at Sarge's new place The Horse & Groom, end of Carholme Rd. For those that don't know Sarge, he used to run the rock nights at Po Na Na then The Cell as well as Bar Manager at Po Na Na then Kind. Come in and say hi, its free entry, special drink offers and great food during the day. The bar has one of the best jukeboxes in Lincoln with a wide range of tunes, oh and gig is on this Saturday 17th Nov plus support!


Sevenday Weekend

13.11.07 Sevenday Weekend hav announced a string of gigs (through to August 2008!). The guys are at Christopher's tomorrow, before scooting off to Birmingham, Louth, Sheffield and Horncastle. Indiependance

12.11.07 Indiependance have got a local band special at the Cell this coming Wednesday, (details soon). They've also got a launch party for I Need To Discover's single on the 28th (see above), and are restarting the night in Spilsby on the 24th. Spilsby will be monthly, leading up to the Christmas special on the 21st featuring (nearly-confirmed) Mumm-Ra! Also just confirmed but not announced Blood Red Shoes to play the Cell for the Club Indiependance Christmas Party on the 12th of December.


Children In Need

11.11.07 Starter and White On White are doing their bit for Children in Need, along with Blistered, Signs Of Silas, Cruise Control and The Panic Theory. They are all playing at a gig in Aisthorpe next Friday (16th Nov).

 

 


The Living Daylights

11.11.07 The Living Daylights have just finished recording tracks for their debut EP. AS a preview to the EP, which they're hoping will be released Dec/Jan, there are a couple of the tracks to their myspace, for people to have a listen to.

09.11.07 It's that time of year again and time for a bit ogf festival fun to warm up those dark winter nights...

The uptocollective are organising a party at Croft Street Community Centre (off Monks Road) on 15th dec 2007. Running from 8 until late the Halfway Up The Hill Festival will feature Tarantism, Opaque, The Hooleys, Great British Smile, 3 Stars From Mars, Mandarin plus guests. LiveRiot

08.11.07 Tomorrow night (Fri 9th Nov) LiveRiot make a welcome return home to play on their doorstep at the Stags Head, Uphill Lincoln. They'll also be popping to the BBC after sound checks for an interview with James & Co. Back at The Stags, support comes from friends Park Bench Theory 9pm set then LiveRiot at 10pm, playing a 1 hour set with new songs. Free entry to all


The Mark 9's

08.11.07 The Mark 9's are playing two local gigs back to back next week. Friday 16th sees them supporting Talibam and Puttin' On The Ritz (both from NY) and Chops from Leeds. Promoted by One Big Wellington Boot, the gig is at Bar Fusion and is £3.00 entry (Bargain!). On Saturday the experimental trio move over to The Duke Of Wellington with Lipstick Entourage and Worse Things Happen At Sea. Again £3.00 entry


Raw

06.11.07 This Saturdays RaW welcomes a headling show from Hyper Snyper , these guys impressed so much 1st time around! Out of town band highlights include International Trust from Leeds who played the festival there this year. Fellow Yorkshire favourites The Labels from Wakefield make the journey too, plus 2 other bands. Free entry as usual Full details on flyer


Drill Hall

06.11.07 Lincoln Drill Hall is to play host to YoungUnplugged on Monday 19th Nov. The event is to allow musicians between 13 and 19 to showcase their talent and is being organised by two Lincoln teens and is sponsored by independent fashion outlet, A Bit of Skirt, 23 Corporation St. For full details see flyer

 

 


Sodomising Dead Children

05.11.07 Watch out for upcoming gigs from Lincoln's latest Grindcore/Death Metal outfit. The bizarrely named Sodomising Dead Children, which features members of Clara Maass, Kallous and PlaguesFire, have two lined up (one on New Years Eve). Details are to finalised soon. 01.11.07 Lincoln College is presenting a free night of music at The Duke Of Wellington next Wednesday (7th Nov). Featuring Pennyless Ben, August Underground, Metal Attack, Blues Cruise and a band playing the music from Jesus Christ Superstar (!?!). Doors open at seven.
