Yours Truly

31.10.07 Eibon la Furies, Lincoln's Experimental Black Metal project have new distribution for their CDs with worldwide underground extreme metal distributor - Monolith Productions (www.monolithdistribution.co.uk). The debut CD 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' is available now from Monolith Productions as will be the forthcoming 'Yours Truly... Eibon la Furies ... From Hell'. Monolith Productions are fast making a name for themselves at the forefront of the underground Black Metal scene.

Recruit

30.10.07 Recruit have just spent four days recording four tracks at Chapel Studios.

The tracks have been engineered by Ewan Davies, who has engineered bands such as The Editors, Black Grape, Arctic Monkeys...to name a few. One of the tracks is up on the band's myspace.com/recruitband (and now on LincolnBands). Release of the EP is imminent and will soon be available for approx £3.00 so check out their site for updates.


Access To Music

30.10.07 Access To Music, the UK's leading music education provider are offering a limited of places on their new STUDIO ENGINEERING & SEQUENCING programme.

Aurora Promotions

28.010.07 Aurora Promotions have announced a number of gigs at The Travellers Rest over the coming months. Dec 22nd is the Xmas Rock party with seven bands lined up to play. Feb 16th is the St Valentines Day Rock Massacre with five bands and 29th March sees more bands coming together for a fine night of local music. In between these gigs they are holding a Big Band Band Competition, with heats running from 19th Jan and the following three Saturdays. The Jivecats CD

Nightvision

25.10.07 Nightvision, who are now playing with Knock Out Kaine this coming Friday (26th) at Bostons's Axe & Cleaver have an exciting opening support slot at The Park, Peterborough on Sunday 4th Nov. Doors 7.30pm. Bands 8pm
They'll be supporting legendary 80/90s metal band 'Diamond Head' These guys have played with no less than Metallica and toured with Megadeath and many other major bands.  Metallica have even covered three of their songs including 'Am I Evil'.  Check them out on myspace.com/diamondheadmusicltd
Northern rock band 'Rollin Thunder' complete the tour support and this should be a great night for lovers of Heavy Rock. This is a great chance for Nightvision to play their own brand of original  rock in front of a band that has seen it, done it and got the rock T shirts.

Pennyless Ben

25.10.07 Pennyless Ben continue to get some plum gigs with some of the old touring bands, having recently supported Stiff Little Fingers at The Engine Shed the guys are now supporting The Vibrators in Cleethorpes. Indiependance

20.10.07 Next Wednesday's (24/10) Indiependance @ The Cell brings Six Nation State back to Lincoln for the third time this year. SNS have played twice at the Engine Shed (and also at The White Hart in Spilsby) and are out promoting their debut album released on Jeepster. Support comes from Censored and The So And So's with one more to be confirmed and DJ sets from Our Iron Lung. Entry is £5

 

 

 


Starter

19.10.07 Some technical issues have put a slight delay in Starter releasing their new Single 'Falling From These Eyes'. The guys are set to do another day of mixing to get things 'just right', until then you can catch them at The Mezz Bar Saturday night after the Rugby has been on! Free Entry, cool atmos, and cool bands make a good evening.

 


Groove Armada

18.10.07 And Maybe I... is the solo acoustic/electronica project by Matt Padley (The Night Moves, Drive By Theory). And Maybe I... will start gigging around the new year with a couple of dates to be announced shortly along with the release of an EP, to be given away at the shows. 17.10.07 Last weekend Knock Out Kaine became the Kerrang unsigned live champions, after beating off competition from thousands of bands. Knock Out Kaine, Lincoln's very own sleaze metal monsters competed at the final against 7 other UK rock/metal bands to emerge victorious, getting a standing ovation from the panel of judges, from Kerrang radio 105.2. 
This comes just 5 weeks after receiving rave review in Kerrang magazine's live gig section, where reviewer Mr Paul Travers awarded the band 4 K's.  (See flyer)
The guys have recently spent 6 weeks recording their debut album entitled "Terminal Vanity" and will be putting finishing touches to the final mix in the coming few weeks. The album will be available on iTunes from the 1st December. 
Knock Out Kaine play the Axe And Cleaver in Boston on Friday 26th Oct, the Engine Shed (15/12) and the Corporation, Sheffield (22/12).... More live dates are to follow.
  Listen out for Knock Out Kaine on Kerrang radio very soon when they will be performing a live session and being interviewed.


Raw

17.10.07 Raw have announced the line ups for the remainder of October. This Saturday (20/10) is MezzChester, with five bands with that Northern sound. The night is headlined by Starter, with support from The Maker, Durban, The Torn and The Saved.
The following Saturday (27/10) Is White On White's album launch party. Ably supported by The Dharma, Seven Story Theory and Joe Mac. Both nights are, as always, free entry (and cheap drinks). See flyer


Aurora Stripe

17.10.07 Aurora Stripe are playing an acoustic set, headlining at The Biv, this coming Friday (19/10). This could well be their last local gig until the new year as they take some time out to write new tracks. The Happy Mirrors, Joe Mac and The Goolies provide support. You can catch Aurora Stripe in Nottingham at the Rescue Rooms later this month (25/10)

Officer Kicks at the Cell

14.10.07 This week's gig at The Cell could prove to be a blinder. Officer Kicks headline with kalenko and local support from ineedtodiscover + Djune. There will also be DJ sets from Our Iron Lung. (Check out the flyer) And keep checking out the audience, Officer Kicks are bessie mates with Serge and Tom from Kasabian who have been known to turn up at Officer Kicks gigs around the country.

 

 

 

 


Nightvision

14.10.07 Nightvision are delighted to be able to headline an afternoon of rock to help raise funds for the fight against a disease that effects so many. It has particular significance  for Nightvision as the elder brother of lead guitarist Neil 'Bolda' Wallis is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment after a reoccurrance of a brain tumour. Nightvision hopes there will be a big turnout to see some superb bands and help this fantastic charity. (Flyer) December sees Nightvision's first gig in Manchester (with Mars Bonfire) and the next step on the way to raising the band's profile across the UK. Nightvision are at Rock Haven next Friday (19/10)


OBWB

14.10.07 One Big Wellington Boot's next promotion is this coming Tuesday (16/10) at Bar Fusion (formerly The Lounge on Park St). Bands playing are Sincabeza (France), Souvaris (Nott'm) and Tengs Of Thugs. For further details - cost/doors check out their myspace


Starter

13.10.07 Things are drawing ever closer for Starter, with the release of their eagerly awaited new single "Falling From These Eyes" rapidly approaching on the 19th, along with their return to The Mezz Bar next Saturday the 20th. The band have been working hard to nail a song which captures their style of powerful indie, gravelly vocal, and melodic guitar riffs.. and from what record production have told us.. they've got it spot on. Tracks will be available to download online at www.starterlive.com via MySpace, 7Digital and iTunes on the 19th. The band have lined up gigs around Lincoln and out of town, booking well into 2008


Bedsit Glamour

13.10.07 JoeMac having recently released his debut CD (reviewed here) has announced a string of gigs over the next month or so. Announced so far are: Kind Bar (16/10), The Biv (19/10), The Atrium, Grantham (26th), The Cell (7/11), Starbucks (Tritton Road) (15/11) and Bishop's Grossteste SU (30/11). Chris and everyone involved with the hugely successful 1st ever RaWMezzFEST would like to thank all the bands for playing awesome, turning up on time, the 3 sound engineers and all the guests that witnessed some amazing local performances. The Living Daylights

11.07.09 The Living Daylights, the band that features ex-members of MCD and Rides The Bus, along with current members of The Frontline and Analysis Failed have announced their first gigs. They play in Macclesfield this coming Sunday (14/10), The Matrix in Grimsby (19/10), The Leopard in Donny (31/10) plus gigs in Leicester and Hull. No Lincoln gigs announced as yet.


Bivouac

11.10.07 This Saturday's gig at The Bivouac, featuring Miss Conduct has been cancelled, due to the singer leaving the band. However, The Biv have announced the dates of this years Eight Days A Week Festival. It commences on Fri 24th and runs through to the following Friday with a gig each night. Listings to be announced soon.


 

09.10.07 Please Note: The gig featuring The Others plus Ejector Seat, The Idlers, Dylan James and TV Kicks scheduled for tomorrow night (Wed Oct 10th) at the Cell, has been cancelled. Next weeks gig will still go ahead. Watch out for full details of the line up


Dead Sentinel

10.10.07 Dead Sentinel release their debut CD today. The launch coincides with a gig at the Black Dog in Grantham. The guys are hoping to arrange some sort of release party in Lincoln in the near future.

 

 

 


The Idlers

06.10.07 The Difference Engine are working with UK Record and Promotional Company 'Pure Darkness Records' on a new release for 2008. Sevenday Weekend

06.10.07 Sevenday Weekend, who have won through to the final of this years WOW factor at the Theatre Royal, would like to thank everyone for coming along and hope to see as many again at the final. The event is on 14th October and tickets are £12.50 from the Theatre Box Office.


I Was A Cub Scout

06.10.07 IWACS have had a successful summer, gaining lots of radio and tv plays. They are having a short break before heading out on the road again undertaking two tours, one with iForwardRussia! and one with Minus The Bear. This takes them up to Christmas, after which they're releasing a new single followed by their now completed album, which is set for worldwide release. Next year is already set to be busy as they visit the States and Europe on further tours.

03.10.07 Please note: the Oxjam Festival at So:Luxe on October 13th has been cancelled. The Silver Lakes who were due to play at the gig are The Peaks (from Canada) at Rio in Leeds on Tuesday 9th Oct

 

 

 


Goodbooks

02.10.07 Tomorrow night (3rd Oct) sees Columbia recording artists, Goodbooks, visit The Cell. More than ably supported by Lincoln favourites, Aurora Stripe, Idlers, and I Need To Discover, its perhaps a show not to be missed. To help the night along (as if it needs it!) Liam Haynes will be DJ'ing between bands.


Tabby Road Studios

02.10.07 Tabby Road is a new recording studio set in rural woodland in Swinderby - in between Lincoln and Newark. The studio was opened by Phil Aldridge to fill time between tours with The Illegal Eagles (and previous sessions/tours for acts such as George McCrae, Junior Walker and the All-Stars, The Crystals, Jimmy Ruffin, Ben E King, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, and a host of others).
