30.08.07 theRAYS have won through the Mobile Act Unsigned competition for Channel 4. At the end of the voting theRAYS ended up 8th out of 1669 bands! This automatically puts them through to the televised stage which will be filmed this Sunday (2nd September) for broadcast on Channel 4. Presented by Alex Zane and with judges such as Jo Whiley of Radio 1 (amongst others yet to be announced). The guys will play one song, Economics, in front of a live audience at the Sheffield Leadmill and then be judged against several other bands. Success in this round leads to further rounds over the next few weeks before the eventual winner is given a substantial cash advance and a recording contract with a major label. theRAYS are really looking forward to playing the Leadmill and would love as many people as possible from Lincolnshire to come to show their support. The tickets are free but you must apply for them on the following website www.applausestore.com (Please note that you will need tickets for the Evening (5:45pm) performance on Sunday 2nd September). The remaining members felt that they couldn't go on without Steve, who provided the intial impetus for the creation of the band. 20.08.07 Chain Gangs, a new three piece melodic harcore punk band formed by ex members of A Fighting Chance, The Living Daylights and Escape From This have announced a tour, in spite of the short time they have been together. 19.08.07 Bravekid promotions are amongst a number of locla promoters that have announced their gig line ups for September. Alongside their usual Friday night events at The Trav's they are also promoting at The Vic Inn in Derby, where Spatch...? will be supporting Errander and others. See Bravekid for details. Raw are presenting what will probably be the last festival of the season on Sept 29th. At the Mezz Bar (Marquee outside and the bar inside), there will be a staggering 19 bands playing the event, over 10 hours. And whats more its FREE!! And finally One Big Wellington Boot are promoting a night at The Lounge (Park St) on 24th Aug, with Health (from Los Angeles) headlining. Tickets are £3.00 |

16.08.07 If you can play well... why not teach and inspire others to learn! Music tutor vacanices@ busy music school in Lincoln city centre. We are looking for a 3rd guitarist and a 3rd keyboard player/pianist to join our team of friendly tutors to teach at the studios inside our music shop just off Tentercroft Street. We currently teach over 200 people each week and we are looking for musicians to take over some busy hours, cover staff holidays and open new classes to meet high demand. Hours can be arranged to suit you. All tutors that are employed by us work some evenings 4.30pm -8.30pm and/or some Saturday hours 9am -5pm.

14.08.07 I Was A Cub Scout release their new single "Our Smallest Adventures" on Sept 3rd. They have been in the studio recording their debut album which is to be released in January on XL Recording. Kill Hannah asked IWACS to tour with them in September so the guys will be out on tour from then. They are also playing Truck Fest and with Forward Russia in October, then touring Europe in November. 09.08.07 The Arts Forum Festival battle of the bands competition and the final will be held this Saturday 11th, 7pm at The Pier in Cleethorpes. The venue holds over 1000 and they'd obviously love to get a big crowd. The gig is open to under 18's as well. Last years event saw hundreds of people turned away due to venue size, so this year they've gone for a bigger venue and they'd love to have a huge party with tonnes of friends. 02.08.07 'The Warehouse' is a new TV programme which is currently broadcasting on the net and will be live on Sky from September this year. LiveRiot have recently contributed to the show (as well as several other local bands including Gaucho, Silent Film Project, Swampfoot and M*101). The show aims to highlight the best music talents from around the East Midlands by getting live footage and music videos broadcast to a potentially wide audience.
