30.07.07 Rumour has it that Crash Doubt Promotions will no longer be organising gigs in Lincoln. Matt lost money on the last gig he promoted following a phone call to The Duke of Wellington stating that the gig was cancelled. Matt managed to get Austrian band Rentokill on at The Black Dog in Grantham so the band didn't lose out. Added to that falling attendance figures, Matt thought it was time to concentrate on other areas. |

25.07.07 The Idlers have been confirmed to play the Carling Festival at Leeds this year. They will be on the Topman Unsigned stage on Saturday at approximately 4:45pm and were chosen with 9 other bands out of 1200 entries BBC Raw Talent received for the contest to perform at the festival, so they're all feeling ecstatic and very, very lucky to be the only band to have represented Lincolnshire on the Unsigned stage so far. |

22.07.07 A brief rant. I cannot believe the mentality of some people. Today's gig at The Duke, organised by Crash Doubt and featuring Rentokill from Austria, was cancelled at very short notice. The reason? Some moron had phoned Byron at the Duke to say it was cancelled. So when the sound engineer arrived with his gear, he was told that the gig couldn't go ahead. Luckily for Crash Doubt they were able to get Rentokill a short notice gig at The Black Dog in Grantham (well done to those guys). This was a much anticipated gig, spoilt by some moron, for those that wanted to see the Austrian band and some local bands. I would like to go on record as calling that caller a thoughtless twat! Screwing promoters and out of town (or any) bands like this does not benefit Lincoln in any way. |

04.07.07 Boston's Party in the Park (scheduled for this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday) is now cancelled, as of lunchtime Tuesday, due to the extreme weather. The whole town park is sodden and waterlogged after two weeks of constant rain. Even if the rain stopped now and there were four days of hot sun the ground could not dry out in time for the weekend. Council Public Health and Safety Officers inspected the ground during the morning ahead of an emergency meeting of the Entertaiments and Public Amenities Sub Committee. The decision was taken to cancel as it was felt that the main stage and heavier fairground rides could not be supported adequately and safely by the extremely wet turf. Additionally the many feet of up to 70,000 visitors would quickly turn the park into a quagmire and ruin the turf surface for the rest of the Summer's planned events. It is currently hoped that a replacement date can be quickly found, later in the year, possibly during August or early September, BUT this will be subject to other park events being re-scheduled and the availability of the stage and PA contractors, the bands, the fairground rides and the concession stands. A decision to re-schedule or cancel this year's party will be taken in the next few weeks. |
