Essential Selection

31.05.07 As previously mentioned Lily & Ernie relaunch their Essential Selection at So Luxe on Friday 22nd June. Big changes are afoot in the Lily & Ernie camp. See press release for full details

 

 

 

 

 

 


NME

31.05.07 Prodigal indie band, Eastroad, who are now based in London have been asked back to play at Guilfest this year. They are also on the NME Breaking bands list (vote by clicking the NME logo to the left or via their myspace).


IWACS

31.05.07 I Was A Cub Scout, continue their climb by being added to the Reading and Leeds festival, They play Leeds on the Friday, and Reading on the Sunday, on third on the Carling stage. They also play Moor Music Festival (20/7) in Ilkely, and Underage Festival in Victoria Park, with Foals and Patrick Wolf o(11/8). The BBC are filming next week's Lincoln show for a documentry, so if anyone wants to get on TV, they should buy a ticket to the show at Ents24 Will Bowerman is also now part of the C&C drums roster, which includes some amazing players!


Eponymous

31.05.07 Eponymous, who came second in the Big Arvo, Battle Of The Bands, against some stiff competition are looking for gigs in the Lincoln area. Contact them through their myspace


Morning Elixir

30.05.07 STARTER’s new EP ‘Chemistry Of Melody’ is available now! recorded by Gary Hunt at Hunt4Sounds, the EP features 3 songs and a bonus acoustic track. The EP is available to listen to on MySpace, cds are available for only £1 from gigs and soon the EP will be available to download from iTunes, eMusic, Rhapsody, Sony Connect, MusicNet and Napster.

SD Promotions

27.05.07 SD Promotions are a new company based in Skegness, putting on harcdcore, metal, punk and ska nights every three to four weeks at the Whiskey A Go Go in Skeg Vegas. 27.05.07 FearOf Hatred play their last gig of the year (Newcastle Arms, Retford - 8th June) as new family commitments take a priority. However, next year will see changes for the band after their hiatus. Planet Of Sound

15.05.07 Planet Of Sound promotions have the upcoming Bank Holiday (28 May) covered, with a all day mini-fest at The Duke Of Wellington. Confirmed bands so far are: Analysis Failed, The Curse, Rides the Bus, Ebullient, Go AK, Blag, The Frontline, The Living


Daylights and Eddie O'Dwyer with more to be announced. The event starts at 1.00pm and will have live music up and downstairs until 5.00pm after which it will be upstairs.

Sevenday Weekend

14.05.07 Sevenday Weekend have made it through to the regional semi-finals of Emergenza 2007, after winning through at the Carling Academy last night. The next leg will be in Camden on either the 6th or 11th of June. It seems like the guys had a lot of people go down to Camden (to whom they extend their thanks) and hope that they have support for the next gig in Camden. Good luck guys!


Yak

14.05.07 An unusual, but interesting request came via Jean of MMF "The annual Yak Fest (rehearsal/jam) is next weekend (19/20 May) in Metheringham. Our Bassist Max has blown us out with a week to go - in spite of this being scheduled for many months. The "gig" will still go ahead, but if there are any progressive ish bass players out there that would be interested in jamming along this weekend & are not too far from Lincs - please contact us asap. Apart from jamming in what is now generally accepted to be the saddest of all keys - D minor - we will be rehearsing the track 'Jadis of Charn' which is now streaming on our page - so have a listen & let us know if you're up for it." Bravekid

11.05.07 Bravekid have announced an unbelievable amount of gigs at The Traveller's Rest over the coming months. Together with Crash Doubt promotions, they have gigs lined up virtually each weekend until October. Raw

11.05.07 RaW re-launches at THE MEZZ BAR, Pavilions Student Village this Saturday 12th May. Its free entry and 16+ (ID required for alcohol if look under!) LIpstick Entourage, TV Kicks, The Brownies from Norwich and Cruise Control get the party started...


Abi Moore

11.05.07 Abi Moore, who recently announced more dates round Lincolnshire is undertaking a mini tour of London at the end of the month. The dates start on May 29 at Monkey Chews, Camden (recording live). Abi is also playing at The Party In The Park, the annual event in Boston on 8th July. For full details see abimoore.com


Chicago Rock Cafe

07.05.07 Chicago Rock Cafe, Lincoln is to start live band nights each Thursday. Their press reads: "we are proud to support local bands from across the Lincolnshire area. We have therefore brought back live entertainment to the venue on a Thursday evening. With an entry fee of just £1 it is a great opportunity to come and see the best Lincoln bands have to offer. The Rays

06.05.07 Indie band, The Rays have pulled off something of a coup by appearing live with Zane Lowe, Ghosts, New Young Pony Club, Wheatus, Bodyrox, Razorlight DJ's, Komakino, Six Nation State, Cherry Blackstone, Dan Bailey, My Awesome Compilation + loads of DJ's!  The whole event takes place at Derby University on 18th May between 9pm and 7am, yes an all nighter!  Check out the following link for details of how to get tickets: http://www.uniballs.co.uk/acts.html


TV Kicks

05.05.07 TV Kicks are to play at the newly relocated RaW's relaunch at The Mezz Bar, also on the bill are (headliners) Lipstick Entourage, Model Morning, The Brownies and Cruise Control. TV Kicks play Manchester and Sunderland, before dropping in to Siren FM for an acoustic session and chat. The SIren show will also include a phone/text/email call in to vote for which track to will get played in a head to head between the duo and The Rays


Nightvision

05.05.07 Nightvision have been added to the line up of the second Beltaine Bash being held at the Jolly Brewer on Bank Holiday Monday. The line up now includes Detonal State, Fall Of Jupiter, Nightvision, Full Circle, Feral State and tbc


Christopher's

04.05.07 As you're all probably aware, the last gig at Christopher's on Newland is this coming Monday (7 May), which is a ska / punk mini festival. It kicks off at 2.00pm and entry is free. The venue, which has been in operation, under Neil, the current licensee for 18 months saw hundreds of bands grace its stage. The premises have been sold to another pub / development chain and is unlikely to continue as a venue. Personally, I would like to thank Neil for his support of this site and for his enthusiasm for the local music scene. And I'm sure you'll join me in wishing him well in future endeavours.

On a related note, RaW, the promo company that put bands on each Saturday at Christopher's have already found a new venue. They will continue promoting at The Mezz Bar (The Pavillions Student Village, along from McDonalds at the Uni Bridge)


Abi Moore

04.05.07 Local singer songwriter Abi Moore has a number of gigs coming up over the next couple of months starting with The Jolly Brewer (12/5), followed by Festival Hall, Market Rasen (8/6), and more. For details visit abimoore.com

 


Liveriot

25.04.07 LiveRiot have released their eponymous four track EP. Recorded at DB Studios in Lincoln it contains: Breakout, For The First Time, Tails You Lose and Standing Before The Storm. The CD can be bought from LiveRiot gigs or check their site for other outlets.

04.05.07 Photographer Scott Murray now has a temporary web gallery for his pictures. The site already contains a large number of photos from local gigs, shot at the Engine Shed, The Biv and more. The Idlers

04. 05.07 *Updated* The Idlers are back in the studio soon to record a couple of new tracks, and have recently announced the first 2 festivals they are playing this summer...
July 1st @ HumberFest - BBC Raw Talent Stage
July 7th @ Party In The Park - Boston.
Both shows are late afternoon and more details are on their Myspace.

The Idlers, would REALLY appreciate your help... they have Channel 4's PopWorld Promotes competition.
Each month the competition has a winning band, who gets the chance to perform on Channel 4's weekend Popworld TV show, amongst other things. They are currently doing well but need more votes so go Popworld and cast your vote


Ecofest

01.05.07 Line ups for this years EcoFest and Small World Festivals have been confirmed. EcoFest will run from 15 to 17 June and Small Worl covers the weekend of 17 to 19 August. Both events are at Badger Farm, Asterby, Louth. Visit Wolds Collective for details and tickets
