Sevenday Weekend

02.04.07 Sevenday Weekend have parted company with their bassist, Colin Lewis, who they wish all the best in all future projects. A new bass player is on board and the guys have only had to cancel one gig (this coming Wednesday). All other gigs are going ahead (they are: 7/4 Queen Charlotte, Norwich, 21/4 Christopher's, 13/5 Carling Academy and 18/5 Nocton, with more in June).


My Toy Heart

Global Village Peace Gathering

28.03.07 With the festival season looming dates are starting to come through. The third Global Village Peace Gathering is to take place over the weekend 13-15th July. A number of bands have already been confirmed with more to follow. See www.gvpg.org

On the subject of festivals a number of local bands are hoping to get on the lsitings for some of the major festivals this year. Make sure you cast your vote and help to get some Lincoln bands added to the line ups.


The Mark 9's

27.03.07 The Mark 9's have a number of gigs around the city over the next few weeks, playing at Christopher's and The Bivouac. The guys are also in session on the Mix on Friday 6th April. For full details see website

Deftones

26.03.07 American metal outfit Deftones are playing at The Engine Shed on Apr 12th. Promoted by Rupert Dell (from the Leadmill in Sheffield) its a 16+ show and advance tickets are £16.00 (www.ticketline.co.uk)


Walkabout

24.03.07 The line up for The Jack Daniels Sound Check Battle Of The Bands, this coming Thursday (29 Mar) at Walkabout, has more or less been confirmed. The bands playing are: Schlinky Pinky, Nightvision, The Small Print, Pennyless Ben and Catapult. One more band may yet be confirmed. The winners of this heat play in a regional final, and if successful in a heat in London.

 

 

 


Wake

23.03.07 WAKE will be at the Hope & Anchor in London this Tuesday 27th of March. Those of you who live down that way go and say hello and if anyone wants a ride down contact Wake. MCD

21.03.07 MCD are to play two final concerts in tribute to their late and much missed guitarist, Callum Howell. The first one is to be Apr 07 in Leicester, where they will be playing with A New Days Enemy, A Fighting Chance and The Frontline. The second is on home turf, at the Bivouac. Taking place on Friday 27 Apr the remaining members will be joined by the Mingers, The Infested and Rides The Bus.

20.03.07 " Live music at KIND is back with a vengeance. With a new name and a new format, ACOUSTIC TUESDAYS are playing both host to open mic' heroes and the hottest bands on the scene. Who's up for playing the launch night on April 3rd??! TV Kicks

20.03.07 This week TV Kicks visit The Winning Post in York on Wednesday followed by George 2nd in Luton on Friday, an exciting week leading up to their show with I Was A Cub Scout at the end of the month. The guys also mention that you can "visit   the reviews section for a great review of what we're about at the minute! "


Lincolnshire Pride

19.03.07 Bands wanted to perform at the Lincolnshire Pride Festival. It takes place alongside the Waterfront Festival, July 21st & 22nd, on the University campus. You don't need to be gay or have a gay following, just be a really good band that wants to perform to the massive crowds that are around the Brayford area on that weekend. 17.03.07 FunkMaster Records are looking for Lincoln bands and artists to be on a 'Best of Lincoln' CD. Here are the details: "The CD will be a collection of local artists of different genres. As we care about creating a music community, we thought this would be a great way for you all to get some exposure and get to know other bands. So if you're in a band, or an artist based in Lincoln, then heres the boring requirements bit. 1. You must be based in Lincoln. 2. You must have your own recordings. Thats it. You don't have to sign to us or anything to be featured on the CD, just send us an email at funkmasterrecords@googlemail.com with the subject "Compilation CD" and tell us about yourselves, what music you play, and jam it with links to your myspace and your mp3s or whatever. The Idlers

12.03.07 A Message from The Idlers: "a thankyou message for everyone that came down to support us for our one year anniversary gig at the Bivouac last Friday..."

" It was really great to see so many people there, staying to see all the bands and really getting into it. We had a really top night, and I just wanted to say thanks to each and every person that came along. Also to all the other bands, The Small Print, Aurora Stripe and Park Bench Theory who played on the bill. We've had so many good comments about the gig, and it was great that the 50 CDs and goodie bags we made up were gone within 5mins of the doors opening!

MMF

11.03.07 Jean from MMF has contacted us with the following: "At last the Lane and the railway bridge have been re-opened after five months of diversions via Outer Mongolia. Thanks to my lovely customers who have tolerated being lost on stormy nights out on the fens to continue rehearsing down here. It shows the TRUE GRIT of MMF bands."


Scorpion

09.03.07 Scorpion Rehearsal Studios have added another amp to their impressive selection. They now also have a Fender Supersonic!! An awesome amp, it gives you several choices of Fender amps in one head, the Fender Bassman being one of them. It also has a celestion vintage 30's 4x12 cab to go with it to get the most out of the head. Also the prices have all changed as of the 1st of March.  


Silver Lakes

08.03.07 The Silver Lakes will be airing tracks from their new EP next Tuesday (13th March) at the Drill Hall where they will be playing with The Rays and David Liversedge

 

 

 


Starter

08.03.07 Starter's brand new single 'Morning Elixir' will be premiered tomorrow night (Friday 9/3) on the Friday Night Mix hosted by Nick Wilmshurst, tune in on the wireless 94.9 & 104.7fm BBC Radio Lincolnshire or online. The show starts at 6:30pm this week due to The Mighty Imps! There may also be a fantastic STARTER competition on the show so tune in for a chance to win. Morning Elixir is taken from the forthcoming EP 'Chemistry of Melody'. STARTER are supporting The Stone Roses Experience at The Engine Shed on Saturday 10th March, then they're at The Bivouac on Friday 16th and at Christophers on Friday 23rd march.


Sevenday Weekend

06.03.07 Sevenday Weekend have been asked to play at The Carling Academy Islington on 13th May for a worldwide battle of the bands competition run by a group called Emergenza. The UK contacts are Jar Music Promotions. 7DW aren't sure exactly how this all came about but there seems to be a possible link with Columbia Records (7DW played the Columbia Showcase). Tickets are £6.00 and the guys are looking into laying on cheap transport but that has yet to be confirmed. For full details go to Sevenday Weekend


The Idlers

06.03 .07 Remember The Idlers first birthday bash this Friday at The Bivouac, Lincoln. Also playing are The Small Print, Aurora Stripe and Park Bench Theory. Entry is £5 on the door from 8pm. The first 50 people in receive a free party goodie bag with loads of birthday treats, and a free limited edition 8cm CD of one of their acoustic tracks, 'Symmetry'!

04.02.07 TV Kicks have a completely redesigned Myspace, same address (www.myspace.com/tvkicks) but a completely new look and including four brand new recordings, three of which are new songs and a new recording of "Ritzy's Beasts" which has proved to be a favourite before now! 04.03.07 Local Metal outfit Voice Of Treason have decided to call it a day. No reason was given. We'd just like to wish the guys all the best for future projects.

 


 

02.03.07 Received the following from K7 Music Promotion "K7 Music Promotion are a new to light promotion team that are looking to put together a list of bands that we can call upon when booking events later this year in the Midlands. These events are going to be relatively high profile events and money will be available for acts asked to play.
For this reason, we are not going to accept just any band. Therefore we ask you to e-mail your myspace and website details, with a very short biog stating where you are based and tell us why you think your bands should get a gig before anyone else.

01.03.07 The Walkabout in Lincoln is looking for bands to take part in this years Jack Daniels Sound Soundcheck, which is a battle of the bands competition with a heat in Lincoln, regional finals in Doncaster and national finals in London. Manage to win that and you are off to Sun studios, Tennessee, to record your own album with a contract. The Lincoln heat is Thursday 29th March. The Icarus Project

01.03.07 The Icarus Project, (brainchild of Martyn Bewick (Bez), who is now studying atthe British Academy of New Music in London) have released a six track EP entitled "Building a New World" and is on sale for a mere £1 as its more of a promo thing to generate interest for the full album and to hopefully attract some more people to partake in the project. Vocalists featured on the EP are Hannah Wilshire (Bristol), Rai Studley (Leicester) and Kirsty Wailer (Lincoln). The album "The New World" will feature 22 session musicians , mainly from the British Academy of New Music in London, but also including Joe,George and Conor from Gaping Axe wound, as well as a few other local musicians. There is a new website www.theicarusproject.cjb.net alongside the myspace site (www.myspace.com/icaruspro)
Bez  is also working on another similar project (as songwriter/guitarist/producer, session musicians playing,eventual live band) called Obliterator.


Funkmaster Records
