Pics from Christopher's
28 July 06:Pete came along to Christopher's last night to see some excellent bands from Lincoln and Hull (and Grimsby). He had this to say of the night. The inaugrual mix and match of bands from two towns was hosted at
Christophers tonight. It turned out that not only were sounds from
Lincoln and Hull on offer but webmasters Brian and Mo made room for
Grimsby outfit 'The So and So's' who were in town hungry to play. It
was a long night with good sound mixing from Vince of The Eccentrics.
Great idea for an event and the fifty or so who turned up got something
a bit different, an interesting mix of bands and a sense of disparate
music communities being all joined up for an evening. It felt good.
Photos of a few of the bands (So and So's. Kill Surf City, Iodo and
Starter) are online at www.shine.clara.co.uk/gigs and at the this is
'ull website.

by Starter who debuted a dazzling new song that was the highlight of
the night for me, and headliners Roundhouse who arrived with at least a
bus load of mad for it fans." Some pics at www.shine.clara.co.uk/gigs

Musoswire
27 July 06: Nick, from The Mix put us on to Musoswire (pronouced "mews-ohs-wire"), who are based in Gainsborough (cheers Nick)
Musoswire is an online CD store specialising in releases by unsigned and independent artists and record labels.
Established in 2001 by Dan Nash, when commercial pop was mainstream and “proper” bands weren’t getting the attention (or studio time) they deserved, Musoswire provided a simple and cost-effective way for musicians and bands to record their original music and sell it directly to the customer.
Many bands took up Musoswire’s offer of free studio time, and created great music that is still available through Musoswire.com.
But Musoswire has evolved, and now focuses on providing independent/unsigned musicians with a place where they can sell their own recordings online, keep their copyright, and get a fair deal. Signup is simple, cheap, and can be done online. Musicians/labels can set the sale price for their records, and need only send a small initial stock of CDs. Musoswire handles all orders in-house, taking a small fixed-price commission from each sale for warehousing and order handling, and the rest is paid directly to the artist/label. What’s more – Musoswire’s deal is totally non-exclusive! Artists are still free to sell their work through any other outlet – be it high street or online – that they choose.
Find out more and listen to great new music at www.musoswire.com

Pics from the Cell
13 July 06: Pete was at The Cell last night, armed with camera. His comments of the night read:
"Took some pics at the Cell tonight. Unless from Grimsby and Rotary
Ten. About fifty people turned up. Chris and Iain of Simply Chris and
Raw are doing a fabulous job of bringing storming gig nights to
Lincoln. Squishy narrow venue, sealed from the outside, with chinks of
light coming up through the floorboards from the bar below, people
squeezing close to a micro stage which is squelched beneath a low
ceiling and overshadowed by a huge video projection screen and
industrial air-con. Odd, confined, intimate and somehow in this
obscure venue the music swells up and forward and through. Some pics

Playing Aloud Update
03 July 06: Received the follwing from Duncan at Playing Aloud
"Playing Aloud are now open from 10am to 11pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday.
We have a land line at the studios now which is 01522 687700. Our mobile number stays the same at 07810 596861. If we're not at the studio, try the mobile or email us at
We have improved the ventilation in all three rooms so the fans are outside. This means they suck the hot air out more efficiently from the top of the rooms and make much less noise in the rooms.
If you have trouble with persistent feedback from vocals or guitars during practice let us know and we can add a graphic equaliser to your pa or amp to notch out the offending frequencies.
We are no longer supplying crash cymbals as part of the standard rehearsal cost. This has proved uneconomic due to the short life of the cymbals. Please bring your own (2 stands provided per kit) or you can hire ours at £1 per cymbal per hour. Hi-hat and ride cymbals will continue to be provided.
Special Offer - During the five weeks of school holiday, all practice hours between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday will be 10% off normal price (excluding any solo musician deals)."
