February 06

More photo's

26 Feb 06: Pete the photographer was at Bishop Grossteste SU Bar on Friday night to snap up some photo's of [starter]. Pete said "[starter] were invited to play at the Bishop Grossetteste student union bar tonight. There was a good crowd in who seemed to appreciate the full-on indie sound of the local band. Opening their set with a breathtaking guitar intro which promised something extraordinary they went on to deliver a set that managed to blow me away despite my having heard them perform several times before over the last couple of years. Photos fail to do justice to this band, sorry! " Check them out for yourselves at www.shine.clara.co.uk/gigs.

Undertone

23 Feb 06: Undertone is Lincoln's latest monthly live event, dedicated to providing a proper UK hip hop night to the loyal Lincolnshire audience. It's the natural successor to the mighty Longuistics events run from 2002 - 2005 in Lincoln, it
will feature the biggest and best names in UK Hip Hop and Grime over the course of 2006, mixed with the finest local and up 'n' coming DJ's and live acts.

The first event features UK Hip Hops finest SKINNYMAN at headline. He's been called the UK's answer to Eminem, with his latest album 'Council Estate of Mind' full of gritty London rhymes that sum up the state of the nation superbly from his point of view. Check out www.lowliferecords.freeserve.co.uk/skinnyman.htm for his official page at Lowlife Records.
The press say.
"A dizzying paranoid record littered with grimey-sharp rhymes and Kanye West-rivaling production, it's up there with Dizzee's new album and Mike Skinner's 'A Grand Don't Come For Free' as one of the street records of the year," - NME.
"Vibrantly engrossing," - The Daily Telegraph.

In support we have rhymes and top class turntablism from veteran UK performers LEE RAMSAY + DJ FEVER, two key parts of legendary Nottingham crew Out Da Ville. The beats will be kept flowing by Undertone resident DJ's Don Propa and Cube
playing the cream of UK and underground US hip hop, with special guest MC Prime on the hype spot.

UNDERTONE FREE STUFF + MAILING LIST OFFERS - Our resident DJ Don Propa is lovingly mixing a bag of tunes for your
pleasure every month, and joining our mailing list entitles you to a FREE copy of whichever CD is available at the time we receive your details. After the March 2nd event, membership of this mailing list will also entitle you to the concessionary/NUS rate of entry to all our future events.

Bivouac 3 Feb Pics

04 Feb 06: Pete was out and about with camera last night. Pics from last nights gig at The Bivouac are now on line at www.shine.clara.co.uk/gigs. Pete says of the night: "It was really smoothly run by Steve who kept the whole thing on track with good sounds in between bands. He also had to put up with plenty of grim humour on the night from some in the bands (regarding his painful recent accident) but he took it in good grace. It was a great turn out for a cold Friday night with a near capacity audience and most people actually hung on for the out of town bandsThe Motorettes and Captain Everything who were worth the wait. Local support was from Steve's managed bands, Colourpool, Catapult and Pele".
