Eight Days A Week Festival

 

30 Oct 05: Bivouac hosts the second Eight Days A Week festival in November. 30 bands confirmed as playing, it starts on Friday 4th November and runs through to the following Friday. Tickets are generally £5.00 per night although a special All Eight Days pass is available for the unbelievably low price of £20!!! See the Bivouac site for full details

The Straightmen In Lincoln

 

25 Oct 05: The Straightmen are making one of their rare Lincoln appearances (in between the myriad out of town gigs) this coming Friday at The Library Bar. Support comes from Cosy Cosy a three pice from Cambridge and Ian Blount playing an acoustic set to kick off the night. Its free to get in and the bar prices are relatively cheap, so why not go along.


The Subways Interview

 

20 Oct 05: For those of you that missed the recent Subways gig, here's a treat. Kelly Saxton of Electric PR managed to secure an interview for the site. The interviewer is Callum Linfitt, who caught up with Billy and Charlotte in Hull. Read the interview


Sosumi demo

 

20 Oct 05: Sosumi completed recording their new demo at Reading Uni and are going back next week to finish mixing. They recorded 5 tracks: 'Threw The Motions' (a version of which can be heard on the download page), 'Fuse', 'Flowers to Fingerprints', 'The story so far' and 'None the wiser'. Some tracks will be available for download on their myspace page (www.myspace.com/sosumi) shortly after they finish mixing. Sosumi are playing at The Ferryboat Inn, Norwich on Tuesday 25 Oct.


The Past out and about

 

20 Oct 05: The Past have pretty much got their next few months sorted with another 16 gigs lined up. They're getting out and about round the country, playing a couple of gigs in London, The Cavern in Liverpool plus Hull, Doncaster, Wakefield as well as Louth and Birmingham. 16 Oct 05: Freaks Union have pulled out of both their forthcoming Lincoln dates. Citing the departure of their lead guitarist as the reason. They have been replaced on the 22nd Oct by Captain Everything (Household Name Records).

15 Oct 05: Pete the photographer was at the Fuse gig at the Delph on Thursday and got to take some photos for the first time in months. Pete mentioned that "it was a smart venue and the bands were excellent. Headliners Headland were stunning. They reminded my what going to see live music is all about. Fabulous." The Straightmen @ The Met Lounge

 

12 Oct 05: The Straightmen are supporting Mohair (thought by many to be the best unsigned band in the UK for the last couple of years) at THE MET LOUNGE in Peterborough on Friday 21st October. Mohair are on a three month tour of the UK and well worth a listen.

Local Peterborough hopes, Dirty Little Faces are also on the bill so it should be a great night out. There is a dj club night afterwards til 2am.

Tickets are available from Sonic Sounds, Planet of Sound and the band and are £6 for the night. Transport can be arranged to Lincoln by contacting the band on their website.

09 Oct 05: Going out used to be a weekend thing, but thanks to the launch of Grimsby’s newest venue the i-Bar; going out is an every-night-of-the-week-thing. The venue launches on Thursday 13 October remembering the untimely death of John Peel by celebrating his life as part of National John Peel Day. The i-Bar will remember him through music and good times as the great man would have wanted it: 2 secret bands and NME-loved DJs to take you from 7pm until 2am as London takes over the north with Stylish Riots. That’s not all, with drinks cheaper than your average and a great atmosphere, the i-Bar launch promises a memorable night. When you’ve recovered from all of that it’s time to sample the delights of the rest of the i-Bar’s programme. From comedy to art and everything in between, there’s something for everyone and student nights will remain in the Thursday night slot. 09 Oct 05: All Below Have Manuals have a number of gigs lined up (see gigs for full details) 13th Oct- Supporting Dophamine and Reubens Accomplice (Jim Adkins of Jimmy Eat World produced their lastest album) @ Bivouac. And they've managed to secure a slot on one of the most anticpated gigs of the year 31st Oct - Minus the Bear - @ Bivouac and finally as part of the 8 days a week festival @ Bivouac on 4th Nov

They would also like to pass on a massive thank you to everyone who travelled to Sheffield last Thursday night to. ABHM say it was an awesome night and they really appreciate the time, money and effort you all put in.

The Blueroute - New CD (Update)

 

09 Oct 05: The Blueroute's debut album is now finished and is set for release on the 6th of November. The launch night is at the Bivouac, when The Blueroute will be playing with Rotary Ten, One.Word.Poem and Catapult. So get yourselves down to the Duke on the 6th Nov and pick up a copy. 9 acoustic songs for £4. The album, which is called "For Friends and Lovers" can also be bought from Sonic Sounds. The guys are also hoping to record the gig on the 6th for another album of their more well known numbers.


Melissa On Her Dreams

 

06 Oct 05: Melissa On Her Dreams have announced a pretty radical line up change, Kev Graham and Neil Richards have left the band and Trigger Slaney has come in on lead guitar and Hed on drums.

02 Oct 05: Martha's, Lincoln's latest venue, has a website where you you find out whats going on. Billed as Lincoln's Alternative Venue, they boast DJs playing music from Goth, Industrial, to Meta,l Punk and Indie. Live bands coming up include Harbinger and Bereft with more to be confirmed.
