Yo-Yo Indie Nights
28 May 05: Just to clarify something
for everyone. Yo-Yo
Indie nights run by Andrew and Priya at the Quayside in
Lincoln (and the Welly Club in Hull) are open to all
there has never been a student only policy. So why not get
yourselves down there and check it out. Yo-Yo is celebrating
its 10th anniversary - 10 years of playing cool tunes from
the likes of The Killers, The Smiths, Kasabian, The Strokes,
Razorlight amongst countless others as well as featuring some
excellent live bands. This Sunday (29 May) 10,000 Things (who
are rated as one of the best current live acts in the country)
and Fonda 500 are playing, so well worth a visit.

26 May 05: Local metal band Wasted
Heroes have, due to musical differences, decided to call
it a day. As when any local band splits up, Lincoln Bands
wishes all the members the best in any new ventures. Sorry

Bank Holiday Weekend - Gigs
24 May 05: With the Bank Holiday looming
and three days of R&R we thought we'd highlight the weekends
gigs as there's a few going down with something for everyone.
Friday night kicks the weekend off with punk and ska @ The
Bivouac (Jesse James, Rides
The Bus, Firin
Blanx, Ringworm)
and local metal legends Detonal
State @ The Jolly Brewer and further afield trashy hardcore
punks, The
Bomb Dogs are supporting The Now Denial from Germany @
The Indian Queen in Boston. And finally, Friday sees Sudanym
@ The Newcastle Arms in Retford. Saturday seems to be a bit
of a non event, with nothing going on as far as we're aware,
but Sunday @ The Attic there is Andy Glenn and Ritch supported
by One.Word.Poem and For
No Reason and The Quayside (Yo Yo) has 10,000 Things +
Fonda 500. Alternative rock band Sanctimonious
are playing The Telegraph in Bixton. On Monday to round the
weekend off there's The
League of Mental Men and Depol
@ Hunters Leap in Washingborough and iodo
will be chillin out their audience at Old Nick's in Horncastle.

Out of town band looking for gig in September
24 May 05: Wayward ( Heavy Rock) are
looking for gigs around September time. Can any promoters
help? Unfortunately LB weren't given a web address but here
are a few details: Wayward are due to release "Wayward
and Wasted" in August. Members of the band also play
session guitar for Asian punk label and guitar at Guitar Tech
London. Also worked with recording artists Viking Skull, Romirish
(support act of The Pogues and Proclaimers), Kushty who supported
the Darkness amongst a host of others. Contact

18 May 05: Please note the following
gig cancellations:
Rob from The Shed contacted us to say that the
gigs on 21st May (Liszt, The Wake, [Starter]) and 28th May
(The Past, Nerine, Sons Of The South) have been cancelled.
Gigs @ The Shed will recommence in September with lots of
local and out of town bands playing.
Depol's gig @ The Portland on 28th May has also
been cancelled.

Lincoln Bands during April, and who are currently composing

of gigs they seem to be getting at the moment), have had a

In Autumn is organising gigs at The Attic, in Park
St. He's set up a website www.atticbands.tk
so you can check out what bands are comin' up at the Attic.
Already a number of bands well worth seeing. Anyone interested
in playing at The Attic email

In Autumn news, they are going into the studio this weekend
so look out for some more material from them soon.

Showcase Nights in Newark - Update
07 May 05: Darren, from Crisis
Studios has contacted LB with an update following the
post, here on the news, on 6th May.
".We've had such a good response that we've
decided to run two showcases a month instead of just the one.
This has been helped by the fact that a management company
has contacted us to offer to share the costs if we increase
the number of showcases. We've also been contacted by a London
record label asking us to recommend any local talent that
we think may be of interest to them..."
All of the bands that have contacted Crisis
so far will be contacted in the near future with an offer
of a date. Darren also mentioned that " we've been very
impressed by the quality of the tracks we've listened to"!!
The next showcase on Tuesday 7th June and features
includes Taken To The Wire (from Bourne), and Lincoln's 16
Hours and Dead Nettles. Contact

Scouthut - New Zine
08 June 05: News of a new zine has come
to LB from Harry (Stabbed in Autumn) & Marc (Lincoln DIY).
The two of them alongside their other commitments (Harry -
SIA and EV, MarckT - Lincoln DIY where do they get the
time!!!) have started a new nationwide fanzine called
Scouthut They have distro across the country but obviously
its run from Lincoln!! It's FREE... you can pick it
up at shows, Sonic Sounds and a whole bunch of other places!
The first issue has interviews with Icelandic thrash-kids
Fighting Shit & BigScaryMonsters UK label plus other stuff.

05 May 05: Shelphish have organised a
gig at The Attic, this coming Sunday and are offering discounted
entry to anyone producing a copy of the on-line
discount voucher. DJ Rev. Ray, The Straight Men and DJ

Sons Of The South Need Your Support
05 May 05: Sons
Of The South have been shortlisted as one of just 30 bands
appearing at this years Sheffield Battle of the Bands! Their
heat is on Saturday 14th of May starting at around 7.00pm
at the SRSB Building, Mappin Street, Sheffield. They are looking
for some support... they need to sell 30 tickets at just £3,
so anyone fancying a trip to the Steel City, e-mail
to request a ticket!

05 May 05: Winners of this years Lincoln
Battle Of The Bands competition, Catapult, have signed a management
contract The I.C.E. Group (Bivouac),
which now has five bands on their roster: Catapult, Colorpool,
My Deaf Audio, Pele and Rides The Bus.

Showcase Nights in Newark
04 May 05: Crisis
Studios are organising a series of showcase nights in
Newark on the first Tuesday of each month. The first one was
held earlier this week and featured three local bands - VFA,
The Dolls and Fall of Jupiter.
They have a line up sorted for the next showcase
on Tuesday 7th June that includes Taken To The Wire (from
Bourne), 16 Hours (Lincoln) and Dead Nettles (Lincoln) but
are looking for bands to play in July or later.
They provide a full 6Kw PA rig, 300 watt Trace
Elliot bass amp and Yamaha Stage Custom drum kit and can also
provide guitar amps if required but are obviously happy for
bands to bring their own if they prefer. They are also perfectly
happy for drummers to bring their own kick drum pedal, cymbals
and snare if they are happier to do so.
Three bands play at each showcase doing forty
minutes each. The venue is Ye Olde Market in the centre of
Newark and entry to the public is free of charge. Contact

Of The South, who are joining The Past and Nerine on the
line up at The Shed on Saturday 28th of May, are getting the
first few copies of their new EP out as demos to venues in
Sheffield and Manchester that have shown interest in us already.
The EP should be available to everyone soon. We'll let you
know the release date or check out their website, which now

crew, Rides The Bus,
who are currently in the studio recording their Bivouac label
debut, are supporting Jesse James at The
Bivouac on May 27th, and currently finalising a short
