A Ripple in the Pool? |

| Well hello, Nice to be talking to you in a non-review capacity at last. It would seem that within the confines of the new whizzed up Lincoln bands site there is some space to fill. It is my intention to keep these slots as brief comments on a particular theme, but you will have noticed how these things often go with me, and I imagine they will begin to swell with ballast as time goes by, but hey, on with the show.
For the purposes of constructing an argument, this piece is going to contain a sweeping generalization. Now those of you who are thinking "Well that's a bit lazy isn't it G?" I'm way ahead of you. You see I've already thought of that, and I figure that I ramble enough as it is without having to repeatedly explain that when I say 'everyone' I mean most, and when I say 'all' I mean some.
"But why not say what you mean?" I'm imagining your saying. Well, I'm trying present a strong argument, and generalizing is an excellent way to get your point across. Anyone who has read the Sun or The Daily Mail will know this. All teenagers are solvent abusing granny bashers and Pete Doherty is a clown-like junky numbskull put on this earth to fill those four inch squared boxes that the Sun insist on using instead of articles. My particular favourites though are: Eastenders. Everyone's talking about it, and we won the World Cup in 1966.
Goodnight Lincoln! Wherever you are.
As far as I'm concerned, you lose the right to complain about the lack of touring bands coming to play Lincoln, when they do (and they do) you don't bother going. Metaphorically speaking, you are all sat at a bus stop watching bus after bus sail by, and still steadfastly complaining that there are no such busses. Now, in anticipation of your internal dialogue here, if you think that your waiting for a band that you like/know to come and play, then good luck, because they will only come and play if there is an audience here to play to. If I may return to my earlier metaphor, if there are no busses going to your destination, you are faced with a character defining decision. Do you sit at this bus stop forever, or do you jump on the next bus and see where it goes? I know what I'd do…
