Feature #003 - Access To Music |
Access to Music – ATM Studios Lincoln |
|
Aged 16 and over, and want to train for a career in the music industry? Whatever style of music you’re into Access to Music (ATM) has a course to suit you. Courses are taught from ATM Studios Lincoln, which boasts state of the art recording and rehearsal facilities and a dance studio.
All ATM courses offer a recognised qualification and can be studied instead of a BTEC or A Level Music. You can also use the course to get into university. Students at ATM get real hands on experience of rehearsing, recording and gigging.
Past students from Lincoln include DJ/producer Colin Barratt (now making a name for himself on the dance scene, having signed to Tidy Traxx), Paul O’Brien (finalist at the 2005 annual Beat Box competition) and bass player Richard Dando (on a world tour with Magnet Man). Many other ex-students are carving out fulfilling careers as session musicians, teachers, producers, composers, performers and entrepreneurs.
As well as ATM Studios Lincoln, ATM has courses running across the country, from Brighton to York. There are over 2000 students enrolled at 18 centres, making ATM the UK’s largest music training organisation.
ATM’s National Events Programme offers it’s students the opportunity to perform at local, regionals and national events (including Music Live at the NEC). Students can attend an annual residential summer school with musicians from across the country, benefit from seminars and talks from world-class musicians, and have the chance to be featured on ATM’s annual CD that is distributed to the industry, including A&R and management.
ATM hosts an annual Awards Ceremony, to celebrate the achievements of students. ATM’s 2005 Awards Ceremony was held at BAFTA and was co-hosted by Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman.
Patrons of ATM include Sir George Martin CBE, Jools Holland OBE and Nitin Sawhney.
As well as offering music courses for instrumentalists, vocalists, DJs and producers, ATM’s rehearsal and recording facilities are available for public hire.
Hire of the rehearsals room is £27 for 4 Hours. All rooms are fully equipped with PA, amps and drum kits. Hire of the digital recording studio starts at £150 per-day.
